The once thriving harbour city of Maputo, formerly Lourenco Marques, came to a virtual standstill during the many years of devastating civil war in Mozambique. Now an ambitious harbour revival project and an influx of investment have seen the city slowly returning to a busy import / export gateway for southern Africa.
